Amazing finale…a variety show this entertaining is a thing of the past. And the show brought great talent over the years: not only Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson, but Melinda Doolittle, Adam Lambert, Tamyra Gray, LaToya London, Pia Toscano…and the list goes on….and on.

They definitely crammed in a lot of performers over the 2 hours, mostly bypassing this year’s talent, which will largely be forgotten anyway. Was surprised we didnt see Jax, Crystal Bowersox, Haley Reinhart or Blake Lewis although I read something Crystal is on tour and was under the weather, so it is possible not all contestants were available.

The finale was just okay — there was an almost sanitized feel to most of the performances especially the drab David Bowie tribute with WGWG (White Guys With Guitars). I enjoyed seeing the return of the original judging panel.

I’m really not getting the week after week slams on 2 Broke Girls. First of all, I disagree, the Hollywood Storyline had been much better than anything I had seen in recent seasons. 2nd, as far as multi-camera live studio audience comedies go, there is nothing on the other networks that’s even close in terms of funny – Dr Ken?, Last Man Standing?, Crowded?, Undateable? – I mean really, I have laughed more in one episode of 2 Broke Girls then all of these combined, but you haven’t been championing for their cancellations week after week. I’m thankful that we still have some decent live audience sitcoms left that are at least watchable.. Mike and Molly has been cancelled and they will probably replace it with another quirky bad clone of Modern Family or a reboot of Friends that will pale in comparison, but I digress.

Mom’s retention was never all that great after “The Big Bang Theory,” and it actually fell off from its “The Odd Couple” lead-in. I do like “Mom,” but it is not really a winner. I guess CBS just can’t do any better right now in the comedy department, and they know they have to keep cash cow Chuck Lorre happy.

I agree, this season 2 Broke Girls, has been on Thursday night’s, with that 6 week stint on Wednesday night’s thrown in there, and it seems like it’s hardcore audience base is following it. I’m sorry approximately 7 million viewers weekly after being moved continuously shows how steady it is.

2 Broke Girls is good but I disagree that it’s better than Crowded, Undateable, and Last Man Standing it doesn’t come anywhere near close to the quality of those shows. Mom is currently CBS’ best comedy at the moment to me, 2BG is in the middle somewhere, it’s not in the top 5 in multi-cams either. The best two multi-cams going today is Undateable and Carmichael and it’s not really close after that the quality of those shows are on another level. Carmichael is like the best broadcast multi-cam in like 20 years. Undateable has the best comedy experience going today being a live variety show it’s like a hybrid of SNL.

I confess to never watching Carmichael, which is why I didn’t mention it. But you liked Crowded? Really? Did it get any better after the pilot? I like the adult actors on the show, but the secondary characters were horribly cartoonish. I will agree about Mom being the best of CBS’ comedies. As for Marc’s Character Development assessment, I Love Lucy had no “character development” either. It’s a slapstick comedy and a much better one then most. Did Laverne and Shirley have character development?

That’s okay I just got into Carmichael myself when it came back this season I didn’t watch it back in the summertime. I would definitely recommend you watching Carmichael it’s a different kind of comedy from anything that’s on the air though because it covers some real-life topics and tackles them very well.
With Crowded I like it from the start but I know the pilot got bad reviews but it seemed like the people who liked it and are still watching it to this day are really enjoying. Crowded isn’t anything special but it’s not a bad comedy though. The cast is what really makes the show because it’s assembled pretty well. The daughters have improved as I find the one with the pink hair very funny as she’s been standing out lately but it’s a good cast show and it’s improving every week. It did have a weak start but its grown pretty well like 2 Broke Girls did in its first season.
I like 2 Broke Girls a lot, it does have a stigma to it because the characters don’t really grow but I don’t think comedies need to always have serious development. Characters always develop overtime but its not always necessarily needed in comedies where the show is more about the idiocy of the characters. Every comedy is different in its own special kind of way so sometimes I’m not in favor of always judging them against others. Comedy is a weird genre anyways because what one person might like in a comedy another person won’t necessarily like. I Love Lucy was pretty goofy from start to finish just like Three’s Company but it remained good though.
You described 2 Broke Girls perfectly it’s an absolute slapstick comedy and Crowded is like that too. I watched The Odd Couple too and it came off very slapstick and not a serious comedy like Mom or Carmichael is.
I do believe both Caroline and Max have grown a ton since the beginning. Caroline was a spoiled brat when she first started and Max couldn’t trust anybody now she trusts Caroline and Caroline has seen the other side of the economy.
I think everybody is guilty of this but people who don’t watch certain comedies criticize them when they really don’t have the right to. You can’t judge something you don’t follow. Sometimes people just watch the pilots of shows and thinks that’s the whole comedy, most comedies start off slow to me. That’s probably why I like Carmichael so much because I didn’t see it from the beginning and I noticed with Fuller House I saw episodes 10-13 and loved it but it probably would’ve been different if I would’ve saw the first episode.

Good point on the comparisons to I Love Lucy and Laverne & Shirley. But I think the difference is those were likable characters. Max and Caroline have no redeeming qualities, at least in my opinion.
